Many plans cover up to 6 consults for lactation. Telehealth may not be covered by your plan. Cost sharing may apply. Please check your plan for details of coverage.
*AETNA: Check with your specific Aetna plan and ask them how many CODES they cover vs the number of VISITS.
Aetna is in the process of changing its coverage and has been less than transparent with its members.
**UNITED HEALTHCARE: A change to UnitedHealthcare’s coverage of lactation services took effect September 1, 2026. We want to keep our families informed about what this may mean for your visits with Milk Street. With new policies, there is now a possibility that a portion of your visit will not be covered due to a reduction in coverage by UHC. This depends on your specific plan and how your claim is processed. As we navigate new policy changes, we will be sure to keep you informed. Our biller is working diligently to navigate these new changes. Please reach out to us with any questions about your coverage.
Given that our visits are typically long (the first is usually 90 mins), we have previously used 2-3 codes per visit. However, Aetna is now altering its coverage to 6 codes instead of 6 visits, which will significantly impact your coverage.
Milk Street Lactation Support Center, LLC will provide you with a superbill suitable for you to submit to your insurance. The superbill (which will also serve as a payment receipt) will be coded appropriately to the level of service provided during the visit.
Payment can be made through my website/on your portal using a credit or debit card. We also accept payments from your HSA account. Reimbursement by insurance companies can vary, so it is important to check with your company to find out what coverage is included in your policy.
